Last year, when the covid appears, in my company that I was working in that time, we debated about the problems that lockdowns caused.
Because of the availability of resources in the team, we come up with the idea of creating a grocery delivery app.
The application allows clients to order fresh fruits and vegetables from the local grocery store. It was the perfect timing, because of the first lockdown. We believed that from now, online shopping will change. People are willing to buy online, not only clothes or cosmetics but food supplies also.
At first, we decided that the app will provide only the recipes and following products, but after the market research, we quickly realized, that there is a lot of applications providing those functionalities.
So, we stuck to our second thought – Grocery delivery. The case was simple: Chose the local market, add groceries to the basket and finalize the purchase. The customer can search thru all the products from different categories in his favorite local store, compare the prices, and more!
The UX team created simple wireframes, and then I prepare high-fidelity prototypes with transitions. I used Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and later on ProtoPie.
I choose bold, vibrant colors and a lot of white space. Simplicity was the key – not only for the user but for the developers too. We assume, that the project in SaaS model has to see the daylight as fast as possible (2 months maximum). So I decided to create a lot of reusable components. In 5 days I designed more than 15 screens, with a clickable prototype. Later on, I focused on After Effects and ProtoPie to prepare the outstanding presentation of the final product.
What did I learn?
Unfortunately during the pandemic turmoils, the project has to be abandoned. I have to accept that fact and focus on other projects. That was a tough nut to crack, but I learned my lesson. I also had a lot of fun doing this project, because we were our client – the most demanding one!
